Special event: Voices for a Cathedral

Seven church choirs will perform together in Voices for a Cathedral, conducted by Sir James MacMillan, 7:30-9:30 p.m., Friday, April 4, at the Cathedral of Saint Paul. The concert is free with general admission seating.

Dear Friends of the Cathedral Heritage Foundation,

We are enormously pleased to share that the Cathedral Heritage Foundation, through the generosity of its donors, has provided a grant to VocalEssence to support its concert presentation of Voices for a Cathedral, conducted by Sir James MacMillan, and hosted by the Cathedral of Saint Paul. VocalEssence is a Twin Cities leader in performing and promoting traditional and contemporary choral music to audiences in the Twin Cities and around the world. We extended this gift in gratitude for the many years that VocalEssence has presented choral music of the highest caliber at the Cathedral of Saint Paul, and in fulfillment of our mission to foster the arts, especially music, at the Cathedral.

Voices for a Cathedral will include many standout moments, including the world premiere of a recently commissioned piece written by Sir James, Haec dies. We hope you take advantage of this opportunity to hear the voices of seven choirs filling the Cathedral’s grand acoustical space, with each choir performing a piece by Sir James in its repertoire. The Cathedral choir will perform O Radiant Dawn. All choirs will join together as a single massed choir for Haec dies.  The concert will be free with general admission seating.

You can help us fund future arts and education events at the Cathedral, as well as Cathedral preservation projects, by donating on our website, or if you attend the concert, the parish will also welcome your donation to restoration efforts using one of the new electronic giving kiosks located near the Cathedral exits.

Gratefully,

The Board of Directors, Cathedral Heritage Foundation
